Physical Education

At Ettington, we hope to nurture and inspire a love of PE in every child through the teaching of high-quality physical education lessons, underpinned by the National Curriculum.

We recognise that sport is essential for every child’s development. Our PE curriculum aims to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience a broad variety of sports and skills. Our curriculum is diverse and additionally we look to celebrate key sporting events beyond the curriculum. Our lessons are planned in detail in a sequential and progressive way to ensure that children learn, develop physically, progress and flourish.

Through good physical education, whole school values and a whole child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who will strive for their personal best. We listen to our children's wants and needs and provide them with a range of active experiences and clubs. We want to aid our children in obtaining the values and skills to celebrate and respect the success of others, as well as modestly celebrate their own successes. We aim to ensure that our delivery of physical education allows all children to have the skills and mindset to leave primary school with the ability to be successful in their sporting challenges and active lifestyles at secondary school and beyond. We are dedicated to ensuring healthy minds, as well as bodies, will continue to support our children's well-being.

Finally, we recognise that PE is a key way to express yourself and allow creativity to flow.
